IC Cards 【Buses, Railways, Subways】

The following are IC cards, which you can add money onto (“charge”) for use. These cards allow you to tap in and out of public buses and train station gates (including Kobe City buses and subways) for smooth and easy transportation in the Kansai area. Various mobile versions, such as apps for ICOCA and Suica, are also accepted.

Train Tickets 【Subways】

Children

Regular physical tickets can be purchased from ticket vending machines at all stations. Ticket fare varies depending on distance traveled, so before purchase, please check the fare chart located above the ticket machines to confirm the fare to your destination.

Credit Cards (Contactless Payment) 【Subways】

A credit card with contactless payment functions can also be used at city subway stations. With a tap, your train fare will be automatically charged to your credit card. Available credit cards include Visa, JCB, American Express, Diners Club, Discover, and UnionPay (credit, debit, and prepaid).

  • No prior registration is required.
  • Contactless payment is only available for the adult fare. If a child uses contactless payment, the adult fare will be charged.
  • Only the cardholder can use their card for contactless payment.
  • Contactless payment cannot be used simultaneously with other ticket types (e.g. transit passes, prepaid cards, regular train tickets, etc.)

Fares are based on age group as follows:

※ Note: Infants ages 1 to 6 years old (before entering elementary school) who are accompanied by a person of ES age or older can ride for free (up to 2 infants per accompanying person). Infants under 1 year old can board for free.
